Vercel makes Basic build machines selectable on Pro and Enterprise

Vercel Pro and Enterprise teams can now select a Basic build machine with 2 vCPUs and 8 GB of memory; new paid projects still default to Elastic, while Hobby's existing 2-vCPU machine is now called Basic.

Basic selectable on Pro and Enterprise

Commercial transition

Previous stateThe 2-vCPU build machine used by Hobby was not offered under the newly named Basic tier as a selectable lower-resource option for Pro and Enterprise projects.
New statePro and Enterprise teams may select Basic with 2 vCPUs and 8 GB, while new paid projects continue to default to Elastic and Hobby's existing 2-vCPU machine is renamed Basic.

Who is affected

Vercel Pro and Enterprise teams with smaller applications or agents that need fewer build resources, plus Hobby users seeing the renamed machine tier.

Action required

Compare build resource needs and duration, then select Basic in team or project settings or with Vercel CLI 59.6.0 or later when the fixed 2-vCPU profile is appropriate.

Evidence boundary

Basic availability does not change the default for new Pro or Enterprise projects, guarantee faster or cheaper total builds, or alter the stated CPU-minute billing calculation; Hobby retains its existing machine under the new name.

Timeline

  1. Basic extended to paid teams

Vercel made the 2-vCPU, 8-GB Basic tier selectable on Pro and Enterprise and renamed Hobby's existing machine.
