Shopify App Pricing supports bounded migration of matching existing subscriptions

Existing subscriptions that map directly to a Shopify App Pricing plan can move through plan setup, while non-matching subscriptions remain on the Billing API and the broader Migration API is still forthcoming.

Partial migration available

Commercial transition

Previous statePlan setup did not provide a bounded path for moving existing subscriptions into matching App Pricing plans.
New stateDirectly matching subscriptions can move through setup; usage-based, price-mismatched and other non-matching subscriptions remain on legacy billing pending broader tooling.

Who is affected

Shopify app partners migrating existing merchant subscriptions.

Action required

Classify subscriptions by direct mapping, preserve legacy billing for unsupported cases and monitor the Migration API rollout.

Evidence boundary

This is not universal migration availability, a mandatory cutover or proof of proration and rollback behaviour for every subscription type.

Timeline

  1. Plan drafting opened

The first migration-tool phase became available.

  2. Bounded migration state documented
