Microsoft begins retirement of standalone SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business Plan 1 and Plan 2

Microsoft ended new-customer sales of standalone SharePoint Online Plan 1/2 and OneDrive for Business Plan 1/2 after 31 May 2026, with renewals ending in January 2027 and end of service scheduled for December 2029.

New stateNew tenants and customers cannot buy the named standalone plans after 31 May 2026. Existing customers may renew during the end-of-sale phase until the January 2027 end-of-life stage; Microsoft schedules full end of service for December 2029.

Who is affected

CSP partners and customers using standalone SharePoint Online Plan 1/2 or standalone OneDrive for Business Plan 1/2 SKUs.

Action required

Identify customers on the named standalone SKUs and plan renewal or migration decisions before the January 2027 no-renewal stage, with final transition completed before Microsoft’s December 2029 end-of-service stage.

The retirement applies to the named standalone SKUs only. It does not retire SharePoint or OneDrive capabilities included in Microsoft 365 or Office suites, and this record does not infer replacement-plan storage entitlements.
