Microsoft replaces key-based partner-benefit activation with billing-account redemption

Partners purchasing or renewing benefit packages now redeem seat-based cloud benefits through a guided zero-dollar transaction, with Azure-related credits deposited into the selected billing profile.

Previous statePartners used traditional activation-key mechanics and benefit expiry could begin from first redemption.
New stateBenefits are redeemed as a USD 0 transaction against the purchasing Microsoft Customer Agreement billing account; eligible Azure and GitHub credits are deposited into its billing profile, and expiry aligns to package membership from 1 November 2026.

Who is affected

Partners purchasing or renewing Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program benefit packages and the tenants under the associated billing account.

Action required

Select the intended billing account and profile, confirm tenant linkage, update redemption procedures and prepare for package-aligned expiry from 1 November.

Evidence boundary

The process applies moving forward to purchasing or renewing partners and does not change benefit quantities. Benefits cannot be redirected to unrelated third-party tenants.
