Microsoft Marketplace now supports built-in trials across additional SaaS and non-SaaS offer types, with publisher-controlled durations from one to 180 days and offer-level performance insights.

Commercial transition

Previous stateMarketplace trial coverage and duration controls were narrower, and publishers could need separate trial systems for unsupported offer types.
New statePublishers can configure built-in trials across metered, per-user and flat-rate SaaS, virtual machines, Dynamics 365 and Power BI offers, selecting durations from one to 180 days and updating settings without interrupting existing trial experiences.

Who is affected

Software development companies publishing eligible Microsoft Marketplace offers and the partners operating their evaluation-to-purchase motion.

Action required

Review offer eligibility, choose a bounded duration, verify upgrade paths and use Partner Center Insights without assuming trial availability is automatic.

Evidence boundary

This is a packaging and control expansion, not automatic trial enablement for every offer. Eligibility, regional availability, customer qualification and later conversion terms remain offer-specific.
