Commercial transition
Who is affected
CSP partners and customers transacting eligible annual-term software subscriptions with monthly billing, including Microsoft's named examples such as SQL Server, Windows Server, Client Access Licenses and System Center.
Action required
Identify eligible annual-term monthly-billed software subscriptions and renewals on or after 1 October, update customer pricing communications and commercial forecasts, and keep annual-billed or month-to-month subscriptions outside this uplift.
Evidence boundary
Microsoft corrected an earlier effective-date communication and states that 1 October 2026 is controlling. The 5% uplift applies to annual-term CSP software billed monthly; annual billing and month-to-month subscriptions are unchanged, and existing eligible annual-term monthly-billed subscriptions change only at renewal on or after 1 October.
