GitHub keeps legacy annual Copilot plans on request billing until term end, then downgrades them to Free

Existing annual Copilot Pro and Pro+ subscribers who stayed on legacy request billing continue until term end and are then automatically downgraded to Copilot Free.

Who is affected

Copilot Pro and Pro+ annual subscribers who remained on legacy billing after 1 June 2026.

Action required

Record the annual term end and choose whether to accept Free, cancel for a prorated refund or move to a monthly paid plan.

Evidence boundary

This rule is limited to the stated legacy annual cohort and does not govern customers already on usage-based billing.
