GitHub previews enterprise-team targeting for Copilot model policies

GitHub opened a public preview that lets eligible Copilot Enterprise customers target additional model access to enterprise teams above an enterprise baseline; when Enterprise teams mode is enabled, model access is governed at the enterprise and enterprise-team levels instead of organization-level model settings.

Action required

Before opting in, map the enterprise baseline and team-specific model grants, review multi-team membership outcomes, and account for the fact that organization-level model settings no longer govern access while Enterprise teams mode is active.

Evidence boundary

GitHub proves the historical organization-level predecessor, the public-preview enterprise-plus-team governance model and the deactivation of organization-level model settings while Enterprise teams mode is enabled. It is not general availability and remains distinct from earlier organization-targeted model rules and separate enterprise-team managed-settings specialization.
