GitHub Copilot app expands to every Copilot plan and supports subscription-free BYOK

The GitHub Copilot app became available across Copilot Free, Education and paid plans, while users without a Copilot subscription can run sessions using their own model-provider key.

Who is affected

GitHub Copilot subscribers and non-subscribers using the Copilot app with BYOK.

Action required

Confirm plan and administrator policy, and understand that BYOK shifts model access, credentials and billing to the external provider.

Evidence boundary

BYOK does not grant a Copilot subscription and external provider charges and limits apply. Business and Enterprise access remains subject to administrator controls.
