Amazon Bedrock AgentCore runtime instances use EC2 cost plus a management fee

AWS prices AgentCore Runtime instances as the underlying EC2 instance cost plus an AgentCore management fee calculated from public EC2 On-Demand pricing; the current pricing example uses a 12% management fee for c7g.2xlarge and states a reduced 7.8% fee for G-series GPU families.

Commercial transition

Previous stateBefore runtime instances became generally available, AgentCore Runtime used its microVM compute option for managed invocations; persistent multi-day, GPU or co-located-agent infrastructure had to be built and managed by customers.
New stateRuntime instances are billed for EC2 compute plus an AgentCore management fee based on the public EC2 On-Demand rate; eligible EC2 discounts apply to the compute portion but not the management fee, and EBS storage and network transfer are billed separately.

Who is affected

Teams estimating cost for persistent or specialized workloads using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime instances.

Action required

Model the selected EC2 instance family, applicable EC2 discounts, AgentCore management percentage, EBS and data-transfer charges separately; do not apply the example 12% fee universally.

Evidence boundary

AWS proves the prior microVM option, the customer-managed boundary for persistent multi-day, GPU and co-located-agent workloads, and runtime instances as the new complementary compute option. The pricing page proves EC2 cost plus a management fee and separate storage and network charges; no universal management percentage is inferred.
